Cesar Perez will chair the Meeting. Guest Speaker will be Dick Shaffer discussing tackle and technique for local surf fishing.
This spring we can catch some fish with no boat charge and no fuel costs. (maybe a little for parking)

February Awards Party
Annual Awards Dinner Party! Saturday Feb 18th 2012
A toast of the town dinner party and a lot of praise to be passed out to a lot of very lucky anglers for many good fishing feats of 2011 fishing year. The season was great last year. Who will have enough points for the Angler of the Year award? Dinner is hosted by Tom M. and held at the beautiful Del Rey Yach Club dining hall. No host bar.
Some many prizes handed out include Fish of the Month, Biggest this & that. But who will win the Angler of the year for 2011! Attend and find out.
March fishing contest
March 4th - Sunday. Fishing Contest and Fish Fry
Sign up. Go fishing locally. Meet at guest docks in MDR to weigh in and see who has the biggest fish. Fry up some tasty fish and relax boat side. Who has room for more MDRA members on your boat? Call Joshua or Bob G to let them know you want to go or have room.
Opening day for lings and rock fish is Thurs. Mar 3 so there will some nice fish caught. Bring your filets to the dock at the Park and join our Fish Fry Dinner Sunday afternoon.

MDRA will have a booth at the red Hall Fishing, Tackle, Boat & Travel Show. We will be signing people up for the June Derby and maybe find a few new members.
And a new grant we have been offered asks us to sign people up for a pledge to eat healthy fish. We will be getting signatures for the pledge to eat healthy about our fishing take.

We need Volunteers to Man a Booth for MDRA to get the word out about your club and what we do for conservation and youth fishing. Are you outgoing enough to engage and greet a few hundred people in one afternoon? If Yes... We need your smiling face in our booth. Contact Josh for a time slot.
June - Kids Day at the Docks
June 24th - Marina Del Rey Sportfishing Docks.
(at Fisherman's Village Marina Del Rey)MDRA will again produce the Youth Fishing Day at the Docks. Volunteers welcome.
Bring out the kids. This fun event is geared to teaching fishing and the joy of the ocean to children. We teach knot tying to the older kids and casting skills to all.

August 12-18, 2012 HIBT
Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament - MDRA team for 2012?
Bob Godfrey states... "I know it has been awhile since Marina del Rey Anglers entered a team in the HIBT, but I wanted to inquire if the Anglers had any interest in fielding a team in 2012? The dates are August 12-18th. The HIBT is still the most professionally run tournament Joan and I have ever fished. Although smaller in size than what you undoubtedly remember, it's actually more fun since you get to interact with more of the anglers, and all of the charter boats in the tournament are top boats. Unlike years ago when some of the charter boats were somewhat less desirable. It's still a "trophy only" tournament, which is great since everyone is fishing for bragging rights and not a big payday!"

The club secretary reminds us that he is about to put the final touches on the annual MDRA Yearbook! All members need to renew and pay up your $50 annual dues for the 2012 year ASAP or risk being dropped from the book. Don't let that happen to you!
